Las Positas College Speech Team Captures First Place Award

The , the , swooped in to place first among community colleges in the Individual Event Competition at the Feb. 10-12 Northern California Forensics Association’s Championship Tournament.

“This was our first big test of the season and it launches our championship spring semester,” said Director of Forensics Tim Heisler.

“The Talk Hawks won awards in every category of competition they entered, earning 13 individual awards and a team sweepstakes award,” Heisler said.

“A total of 31 colleges and universities participated in the competition. Our Open-Level Individual Event competitors finished second overall.”

The Talk Hawks have a proud history of state, national and international awards including a Second Place Sweepstakes Award from the International Forensics Association’s Speech and Debate Tournament.

In March, the team will travel to Rome, Italy to participate in this prestigious international tournament once again. In April, the team will head to Chicago, Ill. for the National Championship Tournament.
