Ruth Carpizo, who attends Donlon Elementary in Pleasanton, fell 35 feet through a screen window onto asphalt on April 30 while she was talking to neighbors outside. Carpizo, who turned 7 on Friday, remains in intensive care at Children's Hospital in Oakland.

As the weather warms up, Dublin Police told news reporters that this accident serves as a tragic reminder that open windows can be dangerous to young children and to make sure to keep beds and other furniture away from window areas.
