Sprouts & Shutters: Small Fry Dance Club

The dance studio opening in Dublin this September will be offering a "free trial day" for dancers to try out the new dance club.

Aspiring dancers can try tapping their toes at a new dance studio coming to Dublin this fall. The Small Fry Dance Club, which will be located 6270 Houston Place #C in Dublin at the Grand Performing Arts, is offering a "free trial day" for dancers on Sept. 21, according to their flier.

Owner Carlos Chapeton says they are excited to be expanding to the East Bay from the peninsula.

"We will start by renting space from Grand Performing Arts on Saturdays, with potential to expand to Sundays," Chapeton said. "If all goes well and there is enough interest in our programs we plan to open a second dance studio in the area at some point in the future."

According to Chapeton, the dance studio was started by Jana Chapeton in early 2007.

"We teach dance classes to kids ages 18 months to 7 years," Chapeton commented. "We have had 2500 plus students come through the program at over 20 different preschools and our studio in Foster City. All of our teachers have extensive education and experience teaching dance, performance, and motor skills to preschool and school age students. We offer kids exposure to different dance disciplines while helping to develop their confidence and body awareness."

Chapeton says the Small Fry Dance studio have won several awards including a Gold Medal award for "Best Dance Studio on the Peninsula" 2011, 2012, 2013, and a Silver Medal for "Best Dance Studio in SF" for 2013 from Bay Area Parent Magazine. The studio was nominated for "Best Dance Studio" in 2009 on Best of the Bay TV and earned a "Totally Awesome Award - Best Dance Studio" 2011 and 2012 from Redtri.com.
