Sprouts & Shutters: Lazy Dog Restaurant to Fill Macaroni Grill

The application for a "Conditional Use Permit and Site Development Review " goes before the planning commission mid-Jan.

The Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar will likely be taking over the former Romano's Macaroni Grill location at the Hacienda Crossings shopping center in Dublin, according to city officials.

The acting Assistant City Manager Linda Smith told Patch, via email:

"They are going to build a new building at that site, provided they get the necessary approvals from the Planning Commission on January 14."

The Macaroni Grill at 4805 Hacienda Drive has been closed since April of 2012 and many residents have repeatedly expressed a desire to see Olive Garden take over the location. In Feb. of 2013, Smith confirmed that Olive Garden representatives were aware of the locals' interest in the popular Italian restaurant joining the shopping center.

The Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar has locations throughout California, including one in Concord. The majority of locations are found in Southern California.

According to the Lazy Dog website, founder Chris Simms opened the first Lazy Dog over seven years ago. The eatery offers a large and eclectic "family friendly" menu ranging from pizza, burgers to pasta and sandwiches. Click here for the full menu.
