Why doesn't this poor soul or in her case non-soul get the ACLU to fight for her. Those uselessRead More dregs will fight against anything associated with a church. It is true that some church goers sometimes go overboard in espousing their beliefs. I, however cannot think of a church goer taking up a complaint to the Supreme Court like Michael Newdow of Sacramento did. Looks like for you who think that church goers take things to extremes, to me it looks like the Atheists do.

For all the years I've had debit cards, never used them. If you're somewhere where credit cards, aRead More check or cash in your pocket can't be used, you shouldn't be there. Besides, most of you forget about all those last minute withdrawals and Irresponsibility takes over, yet you're still surprised- "what happened my bank account?"- the drunken stupor in the bar, or knee jerk "i gotta have it". Most can't afford those approaches, and the service fees know that
cookiepro2 April 20, 2014 at 11:17 am
I don't like debit cards either, it is a direct line to one's bank account. What I didn't like wasRead More my bank replacing my ATM card with a dual usage ATM/debit card without asking me...I made them cancel it and give me an ATM functionality card only. Some people don't have credit line established yet (like my college student son) and have no choice but to use a debit card instead of credit card. I take precautions and have it assigned to an isolated checking account, and urge son to monitor it closely (set up email alerts), good training for future financial independence.

This is a really tragic story. It scares me. I work with several young people who put video gamesRead More ahead of their kids. They get the big earned income tax credit checks, buy game consoles, big screen tvs, games up the ying yang. Their kids get yard sale flip flops, wear torn under sized clothes. They give their kids cough syrup to put them to sleep and stay up playing games. I pray no of them would ever do this.

Maybe he'll be out in 5 years, but on the other hand these are very precious 5 years for a youngRead More person. The high school classmates that he graduated with last June have moved on with their lives, while he has been stuck in jail. They're now in colleges throughout the country bettering themselves for a career, or gotten jobs, or maybe joined the military and are seeing the world. Meanwhile, Cody is going to be stuck in the slow lane for the next 5 or so years. When he does get out, he'll be a jobless +23 year old felon with a high school degree, while most of his classmates will have graduated from college and embarking on their careers. So it's difficult not to sympathize a little with his situation even though he brought it all on himself. I hope that he comes out of jail a better person than when he went in.
JoAnne Norman April 18, 2014 at 02:10 pm

No matter if he serves 7 years or 100 years when he gets out he gets to live his life. When he'sRead More released my family will still be broken and never the same. My dad will be without the love of his life, me and my sister without our mom and my 2 wonderful kids without their grandma. We miss her everyday and every hour. It never gets easier... David Greenberg April 20, 2014 at 10:39 am
So what you're saying william is that anyone who comes along and claims "PTSD",Read More "ABUSE", blah, blah blah should get a free pass? Why have laws then? The whole concept of making something a criminal act is that we want to discourage it from happening in the first place, by putting deterrents into effect. One such deterrent is PRISON, another is the Death Penalty. If this person was being abused, she had options BEFORE coming to this point - for whatever reason, she make a decision to kill someone, and a Jury of her peers determined her guilt. So off to jail she goes - hopefully FOREVER.

Authors and supporters of the Dublin Open Space Initiative of 2014 stand with signs supporting the initiative and the petitions to be submitted to the City.
Morgan King Sr. April 17, 2014 at 11:15 pm
There is much to be said about the respective competing initiatives, Let Dublin Decide, and DublinRead More Open Space Initiative of 2014. But what I want to discuss here is the notion that if Dublin doesn't grab Doolan Canyon and develop it, Livermore will, and Livermore has already taken the first steps to annex the area into the Livermore city boundary. The fact that Livermore has applied to LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission) to annex the property is being used as a scare tactic by the promoters' of the "Let Dublin Decide" initiative. However, a look at the actual public records shows that Livermore's motive in annexing the land is to preserve it as open space and agricultural land, not development. In contrast, Dublin has approached LAFCO to annex the area and build residences on it. The minutes of the 09/12/2011 Livermore City Council meeting at which the application to LAFCO to bring the property within Livermore's ambit was approved, make it clear the purpose is preservation of open space. The Livermore staff report of the same date, to the Council urged the Council to take steps to preserve the area. Livermore's actual application for annexation, filed with LAFCO on 09/14/2011, states as its purpose the preservation of Doolan Canyon and associated parcels, as open space. The LAFCO staff report dated 11/03/11 to the LAFCO board on the issue makes it clear that the purpose behind Livermore's application is to preserve it as open space. Several years ago the Livermore City Council adopted an initiative (almost identical to the current Dublin Open Space Initiative of 2014, which is promoted by Dublin residents with no monetary gain expected - to preserve the area as open space. The Livermore initiative, which is now law that can only be changed by a vote of Livermore's electorate, provides that any attempt by Livermore to annex the land for anything other than open space / agriculture, must be approved by Livermore voters. Accordingly, the scare tactic that Livermore will grab the land to annex it for development is disingenuous, if not an outright lie. The fact is, the real threat to Doolan Canyon is from Dublin, not Livermore; Dublin does not yet have a voter-control mechanism. Hence, three votes on the City Council control the fate of Doolan Canyon. By contrast, the Dublin Open Space Initiative of 2014 does exactly that. Our initiative is the only way that Dublin voters have control to decide what happens to the entire area (notice that the developers' initiative is called the "Let Dublin Decide" measure, and does not contain the word "voters."). That initiative leaves control of the 40% area in the hands of the Dublin City Council, not Dublin's voters. - Morgan King, a co-author of the Dublin Open Space Initiative of 2014 (with Dave Bewley). They want you to put the money in the machine. Have they lowered the prices? No. Now when you go to fast food places they want you to do their job for them. Pour your own drinks. Put the soda machine behind the counter and do the work that you want the minimum wage increase for.
