My house backs up to Cross Road. I can't wait to set up a couple of chairs and sit outside with myRead More ice tea and snacks and watch the race go by with my family. I will be avoiding downtown completely but still get to see the race.

If only the Stanford girls knew what the Cal girls do before playing them in the regular season...

Rick Eymer made a "bush league" grammatical error that should have been caught. SeeRead More paragraph 2: "Since signing a professional contract with the Detroit Tigers in 1981, Melvin HAS RODE a roller coaster of success and failure." Even a sports reporter should know better than this.....

People who always pull the race card are themselves in fact the most racist. Fact.

My feeling is that the NFL attracts a booze-filled out of control element that is much lessRead More prevalent at MLB or NBA games. Security is always an issue at events with lots of people, but the NFL seems to have an overdose of this. The Raiders fans have gotten a bad rap for this over the years, but I think that whole thing has spread to all franchises (yes, the Raiders were ahead of their time). No - $25 tickets won't do it for me, but then again, I am a baseball fan.
Mike S February 12, 2013 at 02:45 pm
I wondered how long it was going to take for ticketmaster to figure this one out. BrilliantRead More marketing ploy - the tickets will be bought up by scalpers and then resold for $40 - $50 a piece. The Raiders will get their sold out stadium and the scalpers become unofficial ticket agents. You don't think this is true? lol...look at what happened to the Warriors 200 section seats behind the baskets at the coliseum. The employee/team that designed this promotion is surely up for a promotion - well done.

Palomar, Well said comment! There should have been an early pass-interference call on the 49ers asRead More well. If the refs had been making calls in the early game, players would have had to play by the rules throughout. Instead they let there be numerous late whistles and late hits (where one guy had the runner stopped with a tackle and then other guys were allowed to hit him--very physically dangerous and with game-changing possibilities of injuries and fumbles) and also over aggressive shoving/fighting after the point (mostly started by the Ravens). I thought the officiating was poor and changed the nature of the game. Wasn't this almost the fewest penalty calls that these teams have EVER had? (I'd like to hear those statistics.) Did these teams change that much from their previous season play that they now weren't doing penalties? I doubt it.
Palomar Parkman February 5, 2013 at 12:39 pm
The game was very entertaining for fans of both teams. That is why you watch. The 49ers played likeRead More a young team. Flashes of brilliance and moments of stupidity. The non-calls by the refs changed the ebb and flow. Their performance was pathetic and that is supposed to be the 'best' ref crew the NFL has to offer. Bad calls and non-calls never even out. I expect to see the game played by the rules. I am not sure what the ultimate outcome would have been if it was properly officiated but it most definitely would not have been the same game I watched. What a disgraceful display by the NFL on their biggest stage.

It's is VERY hard to get into the Super Bowl in the first place. So the idea that the 49ers areRead More going to definitely get back there next year is wishful thinking at this point. It's unlikely, but I hope they do!

My wish is that some (ok, a lot) of the commercialization be taken out of the superbowl. It can beRead More sickening. Too many time outs; long ones that can mess up momentum. I am very impressed with Jim Harbaugh's coaching. With the exception of the Seattle game, he was pretty awesome this year.
Jack Rux January 24, 2013 at 04:04 pm
Thanks Kristofer. I have feeling this will be a really good Super Bowl. The key is for the playersRead More of both teams not to get caught up in all the hoopla. A line from one of my favorite country songs "Come From the Heart" sums up what's needed: "You gotta dance like nobody's watching." Even if you there are billions. And I think the 49ers will do that enough to win.
