You know what else harms schools....when the money given to them is not used for schools.Read More http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Six-charged-with-stealing-SF-school-funds-4515540.php

@ Timothy...apparently you are unclear on the entire concept of public education. Property taxes payRead More for a portion of eductaction regardless of where you live. Do you also believe that homeowners should not have to pay for emergency services unless needed? I can see it now...the fire dept showing up at your home while it is on fire and ask for a credit card???? If people over 60 should not have to pay any school taxes, should people under 60 not have to pay social security taxes? Your argument is ridiculous at best.

I voted no on measure E and don't want to see my taxes go up any higher. The Bond OversightRead More Committee has released 0 reports on what has been spent on Measure E. The Dublin Unified School Districts website doesn't even mention Measure E on it's Bond Oversight Committee page.... It still has measure C info http://www.dublin.k12.ca.us//site/Default.aspx?PageID=14

There are two issues here. If a parent has forgotten to call the attendance office to tell themRead More their child was sick or had a doctor or ortho appt (as I have), the child is marked truant (e.g., abset or tardy w/out a valid excuse). That's probably the case for Fred El and most of the other schools. Valley High, on the other hand, is comprised of students that were in danger of flunking out or dropping out of Dublin High, so they were moved there. Some of these kids do not do well in a traditional school settings. A number have perhaps given up on high school/graduation and are more likely to cut class.

So, I hope to continue to do what I can to give YOU - A VERY IMPORTANT TEACHER OF MINE - theRead More pleasure you deserve in witnessing me end my teaching career strongly. I consider every year closer to the end than the beginning and therefore ... the infamous ... BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND is near. YOU ARE WONDERFUL.
Dr. Robert Halseth April 14, 2013 at 11:39 am
Best wishes, Paul. As you know, nothing gives a teacher greater pleasure than witnessing theRead More success of his students.

I truly honored to have my college band director and my wife's trombone professor (Dr. RobertRead More Halseth) at the University of the Pacific say such kind words. Now, I am really taken aback. And by the way Robert, the "mutton chops" are still here for now. The photo is "old." They will eventually come off too. If I receive a "Grammy" I will definitely get clean-shaven and be able to button my tuxedo coat (smile). By the way SUPER COMMENTS from the Sonoma State Band Festival... I really appreciated your comments on my conducting. QUITE HELPFUL. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY...and in encouraging me / us to move to Dublin.

Better leave your stash at home boys and girls! And don't forget cars on school property will be aRead More giant target. So if you find a yellow stain on your shiney new rims you can thank Harvey the drug sniffing dog.

What an inspiration it was this week to take some walks through the new buildings. I am so happy forRead More our students. They are going to be able to enjoy making art come alive in one of the finest facilities in Northern California. In a time when one doesn't see too many shows featuring bands or orchestra, a true testimony to those students commitment to keep instrumental alive in our community. Choir - we truly hope to see a new choir teacher enjoy his/her own classroom. The drama students are going to love their own classroom and the dressing rooms - AMAZING. The multi-media room is going to be incredible as well. We are going to have the ability to broadcast performances. I could go on but I will end by saying... IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT AND THANK YOU COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO SUPPORTED / VOTED FOR MEASURE "C."

Go Fallon CJSF! Go Ms. Harris for driving the students and getting to the right mattress place.

So does this make yet another excuse to beg taxpayers for another increase in property taxes? Sigh.Read More Endless stream of money, these administrators don't know how to stay within a budget. Oh and did you know that ANYONE with relatives from outlying areas such as Hayward, Oakland, Manteca, Modesto can have those relatives become "temporary" residents so they can attend our Dublin schools? Is it any wonder why the schools are over-crowded? Officials told me that there is NOTHING they can do to prevent those people from letting their "relatives" come to school in Dublin. I say it is time to demand an end to that practice. One of my neighbors had had a TON of kids during the school year...they are only there weekdays during the school year. The lady who lives there is Section 8 and LIVES ALONE (yeah right). Welfare fraud.

The case was dropped because a thorough investigation was completed. Get over it.
Mike smith May 10, 2013 at 02:58 am
And for the charges being dropped, blame Pleasanton police for a bad investigation and reportRead More writing. Tell a story, paint a picture... DA's office has to have all facts and evidence from the Pleasanton Police department. Obviously the officers/investigators did a bad job with the entire investigation. Maybe more training is required...hmmmm
Mike smith May 10, 2013 at 02:54 am
Exactly....I blame the editor.. She has too much power..but she does work for the patch becauseRead More she/they can Make it on CBS, ABC or KTVU.

I'm interested in finding how this utlimately turns out. This school had a couple things going on, aRead More director that is accused of sexual harassment and resigned and a young teacher taping a childs’ hands and feet for nap...I don't believe the "school" is as responsible as these two employees who made very poor decisions and are accused thereof. But none of this should be part of any preschool. I appreciate the Patch for reporting the news here in the valley...

By the way, what I'm doing for children is far worse than what this teacher did? Let me guess, yourRead More children are growing up knowing they are right in every decision, and when shown otherwise yell, scream and fight. Everything has to be their way or a meltdown occurs. If they get second place in a foot race, the first place kid cheated. Excuses are second nature, as well as talking back to their teachers and other adults. If they don't have an answer, they make one up. Soon enough people give up on teaching because it's always an argument, berating and swearing. So they grow up with no skills that they think they're experts at, and will continue to go through life judging others and having no skills or experience to back it. If I'm teaching my kids wrong in your eyes, I'm glad. I'll be comfortable and wrong.

Hey Amazed, you do know this isn't the courthouse, right? It's also funny I say the intellectualRead More people I know can have a decent conversation without berating, and you say "And the group of far-left intellectuals you speak of are comprised mostly of sociopaths and megalomaniacs who think THEY know what is best for humanity." So because I don't berate people, I'm a far-left sociopath megalomaniac? You say I'm the problem with society? For being so intelligent, you sure are missing the point of a forum. This isn't the judge and jury, this is opinions. See Amazed, the problems with society start at the bottom, not the top. It's people like you that are the problem. No respect for other people's views, passing judgement on your fellow people around you because your better than everyone else. You've never been wrong in your life, and will never admit it either. Your better than us weak minded lemmings. As you've stated, you also have a farther reaching intelligence than us. You can run our country better. You can make decisions on court cases. So sure of yourself in every decision. In every which way, shape and form better. Much more in the spirit of Goebbels.

Hey Stephanie, Maybe its time that the DTA think about calling for a vote of no confidence againstRead More the superintendent. There are far too many sheep in this city that believe this school district is going in the right direction. There are also many lions in this city that believe the man is full of crap and want new leadership. You are not alone.

Teachers in Dublin have not had any bonuses. We agreed to work longer days and were compensatedRead More for this increase in time. Because of what is commonly known as a "me too" clause, each time the teachers agree to work longer hours, and get compensated for that work, the other employees take a raise. This includs all administrators, who make significantly more than the teaching staff. All teaching staff in Dublin are considered "Highly Qualified" by the state of California and many hold Master's degrees as well as multiple teaching credentials. The top end of the quoted salary scale is only achievable by employees who have worked in the district for at least 24 years and have a minimum of seventy-five units of college level work beyond a bachelor's degree. Also, the prices quoted in this article for healthcare are fully the responsibility of the staff and are deducted from their paycheck a accordingly. We would like to thank the Dublin community for their continued support of Dublin teachers as we continue to attempt to draw attention to the fact that we have been left behind.

Lynch mob. Calm down folks.

I have kids at Centerpointe school and love it. The taping issue was brough to light first by AngelaRead More to her buddies, and then Centerpointe contacted the authorities once they learned of it from the mother....They are being responsible from both moral and legal perspective....they must protect the privacy of ALL parties. Now I recall only seeing two infractions ...dilute bleach cleaner issue and the high school student helping out that upset the required state ratio. You sound like a passionate parent that only wants the best for your kids and to feel comfort of a familiar face when you leave them in the care of the school. I'm right there with you! But can do your best to filter your ""intel" from other's rambling blogs or emails (which I unfortunately had to be a recepient of recently) before you state your "facts". Possibly some teachers left because of the fallout, but I know others left to either care for an ailing parent or because of a career-boosting job offer they couldn't refuse....and we were recipient of both of these teacher's farewell letters. So your statements are not factual or fair to the parents and kids still at the school, the wonderful staff and teachers....let it all be vetted out in a constructive manner, first, and determined not on hearsay in chatroom discussions, etc. Thats fair, yes? How bad will you feel if what you just stated was not true? what then?

We moved to the area about year ago, and was looking for a Presybertian Church. We attendedRead More CenterPointe Church for a couple of months and during that time it was strange that the Pastor would not return any of our calls. He would have someone else email us, and they would direct us to a website. It was strange. The staff did not seem to care about new members. The members did not seem to be friendly or welcoming. We immediately stopped attending the church. They never called to see why we stopped coming. We do not know anything about the Preschool. But it all starts with the person in charge "The Pastor".
