Surprising drug Tri Valley Teens are using

I did something I never did before 3 weeks ago, I helped save a Tri Valley teens life. Back from college, this young teen girl stopped into our home. She was extremely skinny, down 30 pounds from the last time we had seen her. She told us she dropped out of college before the semester ended. She said she was broke and had a new career path: she wanted to be a rap star, she wanted to write music, she drank allot in college, sometimes having black outs, and her parents were drug testing her finding THC in her system: pot. It wasn't pot. Why was she so skinny, why was she ranting delusional thoughts, what is she on? After 7 hours of talking all night long, we got the answer. Adderall. The drug of choice for kids. The kids who use ADHD drugs to focus them, is becoming the new "it" drug right here in the tri valley for those who really don't need it. They buy the drugs, $10 a pill, smash it up and snort it. They rummage through their siblings medicine-who really need it...they now love the effects on them. What we witnessed was horrible. She complained the last few weeks her chest was hurting. Her weight loss said it all. We managed to convince her to enter rehab, but she is not being truthful. Will she make it? Who knows.Until clinicians, parents, friends and aquaintances embrace the reality of this new activity, we might not be able to save another teens life. Be more alert, ask more questions. Know this is a new fad.
