Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13-Year-Old All-Stars Win Two Straight

Tonight's game is 7:30 against Bel Mateo Babe Ruth at Clark Field in Woodland.

The Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Star team, with players from Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore, won Saturday and Sunday games as the Northern California tournament kicked off.

In Saturday's match-up, TVBR beat East Sacramento 6-2 in the opener of the NorCal tournament.

James Cowick hurled six solid innings of 3-hit ball for the win. Cowick struck out 11.

 TVBR trailed 1-0 after 3 and tied the game at 1 with a clutch 2-out 2-strike single by Jack Maloon.

Jack Morgan led off the inning with a single, stole 2nd and scored on the single.

Tri-Valley white-knuckled it through 6 innings and entered the top of the 7th tied 1-1.

 Jack Fryer was hit to lead off the inning and was moved to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Bowman.

 Pinch hitter, Dante Albanese, tripled to deep left center on the first pitch to score Fryer.

 Albanese scored on a wild pitch during a safety squeeze to make it 3-1. Nick Venezia singled, and after a fielder's choice and walk to Morgan, Darroch Koel scored on a single by pinch-hitter, Max Moore.

Cowick stole second after re-entering the game and scored along with Morgan on a first-pitch bolt to center by Saiki Roy to make it 6-1.

 Roy threw out two runners on the bases and Tri-Valley played excellent defense, picking off two runners.

 Bowman closed out the game in the 7th, entering the game with runners on first and second.

At Sunday's game, the Tri-Valley Babe Ruth All-Stars beat Oakland Babe Ruth 12-2 in 6 innings in Woodland, in the second round of the tournament.

 Joshua Ott pitched 4 solid innings of 3 hit ball for the win. Ryan Bowman and Jack Maloon closed it out.

Tri-Valley laced 16 hits while scoring in every inning. Leading 5-2, entering the 5th inning, Tri-Valley exploded for 5 in the 5th and then added 2 more in the 6th. Tri-Valley knocked in half of their runs with clutch two-out hitting.

Darroch Koel led the attack going 4 for 5 with two doubles, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Jack Maloon, James Cowick, Joshua Ott and Ryan Bowman all had 2 hits.

 Maloon knocked in 3 runs, Saiki Roy 2 runs, Cowick, Bowman and Nick Venezia 1 run each.

Tri-Valley plays Bel Mateo Babe Ruth at 7:30 p.m. today -- July 17 -- at Clark Field in Woodland.
