Is Dublin A Giants Town or an A's Town?

Heading into the post season both Bay Area teams are in the playoffs.

Is Dublin a National League town or are we American League?  Do we bleed green and gold or orange and black?  With both Bay Area teams in the playoffs we may find out.

The Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants both won their divisions and open their playoff series this weekend- the A’s on Saturday, October 6 against the Detroit Tigers and the Giants on Saturday, October 6 against the Cinncinatti Reds.

The teams have something in common this year besides geography-  they both have the same regular season record of 94 wins and 68 losses.

There is a historical similarity too.  The only time the A’s were alone in first place in their division this season was at the end of the last game of the season.  In 1951, Bobby Thompson’s homerun against the Brooklyn Dodgers came on the last day of the regular season in a game added as a tie-breaker.  That was the only time the Giants were alone in first place that year.

Both the 2012 A’s and the 1951 Giants teams came from 13 game back to make the playoffs.
