Football: Gaels Open Season With a Win Against Benicia

The Dublin High football team scored the game's first 20 points in a 20-6 win at home.

For the first time since 2007, the football team opened its season with a win.

The Gaels, under the direction of new coach John Wade, built a 14-0 lead by halftime en route to a 20-6 win at home in a defensive battle against Benicia.

Quarterback Ed Achziger hooked up with Jeff Leung on a 41-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Demani McFarlin quickly made it 14-0 with a 62-yard interception return for another score.
