Dublin Boys Lose Close Battle To Campolindo

Campolindo charges back in the fourth quarter to hand the Gaels their first league loss

It was close, but it wasn't quite enough.

The Dublin High boys basketball team saw a 7-point lead evaporate in the fourth quarter as Campolindo High came charging back to defeat the Gaels, 70-67, on Monday night.

The loss was the first league defeat for Dublin High this season. The Gaels are now 13-6 overall and 4-1 in DFAL play. They had won six in a row coming into the game on their home court.

Campolindo is 16-2 now and 5-0 in the DFAL. The Cougars have won 10 straight.

The game was close throughout, although Dublin held the lead through the first three periods.

The Gaels led 16-15 after the first period and 37-31 at halftime. Dublin increased that margin to 55-48 after three quarters.

However, Campolindo outscored Dublin 22-12 in the final period to snatch away the victory.

Dublin was led by junior center Eric Nielsen, who scored 20 points, grabbed 22 rebounds and blocked seven shots.

In the girls game, Dublin defeated Campolindo, 54-51. The Gaels came back after falling behind 15-5 in the first period.

Dublin was led by senior guard Shannon Irwin, who scored 18 points, and frosh guard Milan Moses, who contributed 14 points.

Dublin's girls team is now 11-6 on the season and 3-2 in league play. Campolindo falls to 8-10 overall and 3-2 in league.
