Capping a year when the Lady Gaels went from back-to-back last place finishes to winning the DFAL title, Dublin High's girls soccer team was edged by Bishop O'Dowd High, 1-0, in the North Coast Section Division II final on Saturday.
After giving up a goal in the first half, the Lady Gaels brought a high level of intensity in the second half, just missing on three scoring chances at the end of the game.
Amanda Garcia made an acrobatic tip save with four minutes remaining to keep Dublin in the game.
Joanna Giron, Katie Somerville, Kelly Radu, and Hailey Zummo anchored a stubborn Lady Gaels defense.
The Lady Gaels gave a worthy effort and made the school and community proud. A great season and a great team.
