Week in Review: Shooting Deaths in Pleasanton, Star Trek, Pit Bull under Quarantine

Pit bull quarantined in Dublin: A pit bull that mauled a 2-year-old Castro Valley toddler early Tuesday morning is being held in at the Alameda County Animal Shelter in Dublin. During the mauling investigation, the boy's father was arrested for child endangerment due to what authorities described as the unsanitary and dangerous conditions in the home.

Live long and prosper: Portions of the next Star Trek movie was filmed at the Livermore National Laboratory this week. Trekkie sightings all over Tri-Valley made for a fun week of star gazing. After spending time at Hooter's in Dublin on Saturday, the actors were spotted by fans at the Rose Hotel in Pleasanton. Shooting of the Star Trek movie wrapped up this week.

Shooting deaths in Pleasanton: The Pleasanton community was shocked and saddened by the deaths of a mother and daughter this week. Ainsley Freeman around 6 p.m. Monday along with her mother, Amy Freeman Burton, 37. in Pleasanton postponed STAR testing to give time for students to cope with the tragic loss.

Skate park injury: A 7-year-old boy was airlifted to Children's Hospital after sustaining a head injury while skating at Emerald Glen Park over the weekend.
