Teachers and School District Reach Contract Agreement

Information from the Dublin Unified School District--

The Dublin Unified School District and the Dublin Teachers Association (DTA) have reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining contract for the 2013-14 school year.

The new agreement, which includes a compensation increase for all 397 certificated teachers in Dublin Unified, was approved by the Board of Trustees at Tuesday night’s regular Board meeting.

“The district is very pleased with the agreement reached with the Dublin Teachers Association,” said Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hanke. “It represents a lot of hard work on the part of both the District team and the Association team. We believe this is a fair agreement that will allow the district to continue to focus on student learning while meeting the needs of our teachers; our most important resource.”

Key points of the new agreement with the teachers include:
• A 1.5 percent salary increase on the salary schedule effective June 30, 2013.
• A one-time, off-schedule increase of 1 percent for the 2013-2014 school year.
• In addition, DUSD and DTA agreed to changes in contract language allowing for an increase in the number of collaboration days in 2014/15, implementation of an intervention program at all elementary schools, and a pilot program of intervention at Dublin High and each middle school, along with other changes to evaluations, stipend positions and calendar.

The Dublin Teachers Association ratified the tentative agreement on May 31, pending Board approval.

The contract changes come within the structure of a current three-year successor contract between DUSD and DTA that runs through June 30, 2015. The term of this agreement is for one year.
