School Board Appoints New Trustee

Other agenda topics included: dogs on campus, API test scores.

By a vote of 4-0, the DUSD Board of Trustees appointed parent Amy Miller to the board Tuesday evening.

"My feet are deeply planted in this community, and I really want to make a difference," said Miller.

The decision to fill a vacancy by appointment, rather than hold an election, was made by Dublin school trustees by a 4-0 vote on Aug. 17th.  Trustee John Ledahl, 61, submitted his resignation letter Aug. 9, and it went into effect the following day. Ledahl cited work, family and health issues among the reasons he resigned. Miller will serve the remaining two years of Ledahl's term.

Miller was sworn in by Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti and said that she was, "very excited" that the board selected her to fill the empty seat.

To prepare for the position, Miller said she did a lot of research on the Internet and spoke with board members, including those in other nearby districts, about the responsibilities. She gave a passionate speech to the board about her desire to make a difference.  As a parent, she said she is devoted to the position and, "will be around for the long haul."
