School Board Appoints New Principals

The board approved the appointment of new principals at Wells Middle and Dougherty Elementary schools.

There will be some new faces on campuses in the  this fall.

The board appointed Kevin Grier as principal of  and Catherine Ward-Mikes as principal of .

Grier works for the Claremont School District in Southern California as the principal at El Roble Intermediate School

"We're very happy to move up to the Northern California area," he said. He and his wife have three children. Two will attend elementary school in Dublin and one will attend Wells Middle School.

Catherine Ward-Mikes, the newly appointed principal at Dougherty Elementary, comes to the district from the Newark Unified School District. She is the principal at Newark Junior High School.

"I feel very blessed to be joining the community," said Ward-Mikes.

Wards-Mikes replaces Dougherty Principal Lynn Medici, who will take the helm at Kolb Elementary, opening in the fall.

During the meeting, board members also approved the appointment of Michael Benzien, the interim director of maintenance and operations.

Board members recognized April employees of the month, including teacher Saundra Bauer and instructional assistant Sandy Trau, both employees at .

The school spotlighted was Dublin Elementary and students shared information about their school, including the wide range of technology they use on a daily basis. Their presentation included a video, which they created.
