YMCA Kindergarten Readiness

The YMCA Kindergarten Readiness program is offered at Fairlands Y-Kids in Pleasanton. The curriculum is designed to prepare 4 and 5 year olds for kindergarten. The emphasis is on linguistic, phonetic and cognitive development, along with social growth and interaction.

In YMCA youth programs we try to:

• Finger paint more and point fingers less
• Do less correcting and more connecting
• Take our eyes off our watch and watch with our eyes
• Take more hikes, make more kites
• Stop playing serious and seriously play
• Do more hugging and less tugging
• Build self esteem first and the craft later
• Be firm less often and affirm much more
• Teach less about the love of power and more about the power of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty
• Put a smile on every child's face
