Dublin High School Announces New Varsity Head Football Coach

John Wade, who lives in San Ramon, has been hired to coach the high school football team.

The Gaels football team has a new head coach.

announced Tuesday that John Wade will assume the position of Varsity Head Football Coach.

For the last 15 years, Wade coached at Miramonte High School in Orinda. He was the head coach for nine seasons. During his time there, his teams compiled an overall record of 78 wins and 33 loses.

According to a press release issued by the district, Wade's teams won Diablo Foothill Athletic League titles in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2010. Under his leadership his teams also took North Coast Section 2A East Bay titles in 2003 and 2006 and were the #1 ranked 2A team in the State of California in 2003, as ranked by CalHiSports.com.

In 2005, Wade was named the Contra Costa Times Coach of the Year.

The new coach is a graduate of Miramonte High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from the University of California at Davis, where he played football.

The district says Wade holds a teaching credential in Social Studies and Physical Education. He taught at Las Lomas High School for one year and Miramonte High School for the last 14 years.

Wade lives in San Ramon with his wife and two daughters.

Wade replaces Casey Moreno, who served as the head coach for the Gaels the past four seasons. Moreno announced in December that he was stepping away from football to spend more time with his family.
