DPIE Celebrity Waiter Dinner

The Dublin Partners in Education held its sixth annual "Dinner Partners in Education Celebrity Waiter Dinner" on Oct. 26 at the Shannon Community Center in Dublin. Almost 300 people attended that gala, which was hosted by a long list of local "celebrities" who worked as waiters, earning $43,000 for Dublin schools. Local personality, Brad Kinney, provided the music and entertainment for the evening.

The tickets for the event were $75 and included dinner, music and dancing. Guests were greeted by lavishly decorated tables — each with a different theme designed by the celebrity waiter. Waiters went all out creating tablescapes with themes ranging, from the Olympics, sports, Fifty Shades of Grey, jungle, justice and the Old West, to entertain and delight as part of the friendly competition to drum up cash throughout the night.

The event had a live auction, along with a $25 wheel spin for prizes. Guests were also able to burst balloons for prizes for a quick $50 a pop.

Former Dublin Mayor, Janet Lockhart, the Executive Director of DPIE, announced the celebrity waiters of the evening.

"It was a great evening of laughs and antics," said Lockhart. "Everyone's efforts from Waiters to Guests to Volunteers will benefit the students of Dublin Unified School District. Thanks to all for a fun evening."

Juliette Goodrich, a CBS 5 reporter and Pleasanton local, has participated as a waiter for many years.

"I have been celebrity waiter for DPIE for several years and each year the build-up of excitement to the event and the event itself is like no other," she said. "Everyone has the best time and we are raising money for our children! My waitressing skills still need fine tuning but I never disappoint my guests with some tricks up my sleeve. And yes ....it's friendly competition but lets be honest... each waiter wants to win the coveted 'most tips earned in the night' award."

Mayor Tim Sbranti was the "Head Waiter" and other local celebrity waiters included: Dan Cunningham, Juliette Goodrich, Dr.Stephen Hanke, Beverly Heironimus, David Haubert, Ted Hoffman Jr., Autumn Johnson, Sean Kenny, Tim McCarty, Amy Miller, Rick Pickering, Jow Ramagna, Heather Stanek, Eric Swalwell, Greg Tomlinson and Val Williams.

Amy Miller, whose table theme was Alice in Wonderland, earned the most money for the night by bringing in over $8,000.

A check for $710 was presented to Dublin Partners in Education as a donation from Keypoint Credit Union.

Table sponsors for the night included the Alameda County Fair Association, Arntz Builders, Bruns Belmont, Chevron, ClubSport Pleasanton, Contrax Furnishings, Discovery Builders, Inc., Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl, Golden State College of Court Reporting, Padgett Business Services, Tandus Company and ValleyCare Charitable Foundation.
