Dougherty Elementary School's Kacie Buna Named Outstanding New Teacher of the Year

It is with great enthusiasm that we recognize Kacie Buna, 1st grade teacher at , as ’s outstanding new teacher.

As a classroom teacher Kacie implements the district’s instructional programs, always honoring the adopted curriculum. She is committed to her students as life-long learners.

She employs multi-sensory instructional techniques, skills-based groupings, and whole class instruction. Kacie creates a motivating program, planning lessons and activities that meet the needs of her wide range of learners.

She has a solid management system; communicates with parents in a timely and positive manner and keeps accurate student records. Specific discipline problems were handled adroitly, exhibiting common sense.

One of Kacie’s greatest assets is her manner and approach with people. She is admired, trusted, and respected by parents and peers. Second to none, Kacie approaches opportunities and challenges with a supportive creative “can do” attitude.

Kacie’s broad based knowledge of curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and sensitivity maximize her effectiveness in the parent community, with support staff, and her peers.

Kacie is an articulate, clear thinker. Her open manner, and ability to listen have won her high marks as an educator. Her personal commitment to children is always clear. She has much to offer, and I regard Kacie as an exceptional educator.

Kacie’s TVTIP mentor, Claire Mognaga, finds Kacie to be one of a kind. She has said to us on more than one occasion, “Our children are lucky to have Kacie as a teacher!” We would agree.

For a teacher to receive an exceptional rating, on their final evaluation, means that you are consistently going above and beyond for the children you serve, daily.

It means that you embrace the District’s fundamental purpose which is student learning and that you model the philosophies of Professional Learning Communities; Dublin children are “our” children. This describes Miss Kacie Buna to a tee.
