Demolition at Dublin High

Wondering about the demolition and construction happening at DHS? We have the scoop for you.

If you have passed by the past week or so, you likely have noticed major changes in the parking lot and front of the school. Portable buildings and heavy equipment are taking up the space that used to be the art building.

Demolition started last week, crumbling the 40-year-old building to make way for a new, state-of-the-art performing arts center.

According to Carol Shimizu, the Dublin High School Principal, the performing arts center will have a stage and an orchestra pit.

"This will be the only performing arts center in Dublin," said Shimizu. "This is a great opportunity for residents."

Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti tells us more about the work-in-progress project, funded through Measure C.

The performing arts center is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2014.
