Why Did a Mystery Person Cover a Dublin Elementary School With Rainbows?

Students at the school were surprised by "Awesome Day," complete with rainbow streamers and positive messages of hope.

Students arriving for class at Kolb Elementary in Dublin discovered something a bit out-of-the-ordinary around their school on Monday morning. The school had been swathed in rainbow streamers and plastered with positive messages addressed to the students.

The day, now being called "Awesome Day" by parents, was prepared by an anonymous group was designed to be encouraging and positive to the students. One of the notes posted at the school read, "Today you will be.... ambitious, active, brave, bold, calm, caring, confidant, determined, enchanting, efficient, excellent, fair, good, happy, helpful, intelligent, jolly, kind, loving, mature, nice, proud, receptive, responsible, sensitive, successful, wise."

Elizabeth Early said parents received a note explaining the school surprise:

"A group of individuals, whom wish to remain anonymous, are celebrating the students of Kolb Elementary by decorating the school in rainbows, stars, and inspirational words, balloons, and banners....why? Well, because the students at Kolb work hard, every day, and they deserve to feel celebrated in a special way. They will have a special letter read to them in the morning, over the intercom to start off their day. Here is the text of the letter:

Dear Kolb Eagles:

Today we celebrate you and all your awesomeness.

Today we remind you that you matter.

Today you have a chance to make a difference in this world and we believe that you CAN and WILL.

Today is a brand new day to make new friends or remind the friends you have that they are awesome.

Today remind yourself how lucky you are to have the amazing teacher you have standing in front of you. Remember they are making you a better person every day.

Today we remind you that the only thing standing between you and your awesomeness, your greatness and true happiness is you! Let yourself be awesome and have an amazing time doing it!

Today you have put a smile on our face, and we hope that we put a smile on yours.

Today and everyday remember you are AWESOME!"
