Show your Dublin Pride through Civic Duty During Dublin Pride Week 2012

The All-American City gives back to the community

Come out to participate in the annual Dublin Pride Week events during the week of Saturday, April 28, through Saturday, May 5.

Volunteer Day: Saturday, April 28 at 8:00 a.m. head to the Heritage Park in Dublin. Volunteers can come out for a day of service to give back to the schools, parks or help clean up the creek. Volunteers will receive a free tote bag and end the day with a hot dog luncheon provided by the Dublin Lions Club.

Linda Smith, the city public information officer, said there are about 500 volunteers signed up for the day, which is up from last year's 300 volunteers.

Councilmember Don Biddle says it is a “wonderful event.”

“Individuals, families and church groups come out to help in the community,” he said. “A lot of local merchants volunteer the work equipment needed for many of the projects.”

Volunteers are asked to bring canned and non-perishable food items to the event. The donations will be given to local organizations that service the Dublin community exclusively, such as the Children's Emergency Council and the Well Christian Community.

Food is also being collected during Dublin Pride Week at either of the Dublin Safeway locations.
