Shadow Cliff Lake Being Stocked With Trout

The December seeding will involve thousands of fish and a dozen lakes.

By Bay City News:

It's time to get bait and fish.

The state Department of Fish and Game will release thousands of trout into more than a dozen Bay Area lakes this month.

The DFG announced it would release more than 30,000 pounds of rainbow trout in Bay Area lakes during December. Some of the fish weigh as much as two pounds, according to the DFG.

In Alameda County the lakes include:

  • Horseshoe Lake
  • Lakeshore Park Pond
  • Shadow Cliff Lake
  • Temescal Lake
  • Lake Elizabeth

"We want to create opportunities for families to spend quality time together," DFG acting regional manager Scott Wilson said. "Fishing, like many other outdoor pursuits, helps keep people connected to their natural environment," Wilson said.

A complete list of Bay Area lakes to receive trout stock can be found online at

Looks like I'll be adding Shadow Cliffs to my list of local spots for 2013 even though real fisherman fish for BASS. JUST KIDDING! Be safe and have fun fishing, everyone!
