Sbranti and Baker to Battle for District 16 State Assembly Seat This Fall

The two Tri-Valley locals earned themselves a spot on the Nov. 4 ballot.

Voters in the East Bay chose Republican Catharine Baker and Democrat Tim Sbranti to face off in the general election on Nov. 4 for the District 16 State Assembly seat.

Sbranti, a teacher and the current Mayor of Dublin, had over 40 percent of the votes in Alameda County, according to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website, while Baker, a Dublin mother and lawyer in Pleasanton, snagged 37.49 percent. 

According to the Secretary of State website, Baker has 36.5 percent of the votes, followed by Sbranti with 29.6 percent.

Steve Glazer and Newell Arnerich are trailing third and fourth in the race.

The seat is currently held by Joan Buchanan (D-Alamo), who is termed out this year. District 16 includes Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek to Lamorinda.
