Residents Invited to Tour Wastewater Treatment Facility

Many public spaces in Dublin and San Ramon will stay green this year despite the drought, thanks to the recycled water produced by Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) at its wastewater treatment and water recycling plants. 

The public is invited to tour the facilities on Wednesday, April 9, at 1:30 p.m. The free tour lasts 60 to 90 minutes and is open to adults, teens, and children ages seven and up.

On average, Dublin, Pleasanton, and southern San Ramon generate more than 11 million gallons of wastewater daily, which must be handled efficiently and safely to protect public health. Last year, over one billion gallons of the treated wastewater was purified further, disinfected and then delivered to community landscaping as recycled water.  Wastewater treatment also generates biofuel for heat and electricity. The tour highlights these resource recovery processes as well as career opportunities in the water industry.

DSRSD offers public tours quarterly on the second Wednesdays of January, April, July, and October. Tours can be scheduled on other Wednesdays for groups of six or more if staff is available. For more information call the DSRSD public information office at 925-875-2282.
