The City of Dublin is offering a unique day camp July 9-13 which will allow your child to ‘live-in-history’ by spending a week in costume and having fun in the historical buildings and barns of the Dublin Heritage Park & Museums. Camper’s days will be filled with historical games, foodways, reenactment and arts & crafts. Campers will make their frontier home in the Hay Barn, put on a play in the 1870 Sunday School Barn, create in the rustic Art Studio, gather in the 1859 St. Raymond Church and make projects in the air conditioned “Little Classroom.” A different theme will be explored each day for hands-on learning.
• Day 1 Live-In-History - Campers select costumes, set-up frontier house, make soap, weave, tinker and take a tractor drawn hay wagon tour of the park.
• Day 2 Art Explorer’s Day - Start with an architecture scavenger hunt followed by sketching, painting and creating a historical play
• Day 3 Unplugged - How did pioneers listen to music or read in school without electricity? Explore pre-electric techniques and inventions and make a few of your own.
• Day 4 Green Pioneers - Resourcefulness and reuse were a way of life for pioneers. Explore sustainable living skills by doing laundry, dipping candles and learning about Native American life.
• Day 5 Celebration Fun! – The last day is all about fun, but campers will still be learning with old fashioned games, a silent film, corn husking bee, ice cream & lemonade making and performing their play. The camp will end with a cook-out for the whole family.
Camp held at the Dublin Heritage Park & Museums 6600 Donlon Way Dublin.
Program Hours are MON-FRI, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM and the cost is $248 for Dublin residents and $298 for non-residents. Extended care is available. Please call (925) 452-2101 to register.
