Controlled Burn in Dublin

Camp Parks will be conducting controlled burns between June 18 to June 22.

Submitted by: Camp Parks

On June 18 to June 22 Camp Parks will be conducting its annual controlled burn to reduce the wildfire hazards that exist in the Parks training areas.

This controlled burn is intended to reduce fire hazards in the Parks training areas but also to reduce potential wildfire from going into the residential area surrounding the installation.

The Command at recommends that anyone with property against the fence line to take this time to reduce their own potential hazards by cutting any old growth nearing their property.

A 100% containment fire break and perimeter fence access has been established around the Parks Training areas to mitigate any fire that may go beyond its planned burn. Also, a controlled burn will not be conducted if conditions are not favorable to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District requirements.

More than seven fire departments will be participating in this event with the primary intent on preventing an uncontrolled burn and meeting the objectives of the Command to provide a safe training area for Soldiers of the United States Army. A residual benefit is that the fire department who will be participating will
gain valuable knowledge in combating wildfires which benefits the Bay Area as a whole.

The Camp Parks Fire, Livermore/Pleasanton Fire, Fremont Fire, East Bay Regional Parks District Fire, Alameda County Fire, Cal Fire, and San Ramon Valley Fire will be participating in the controlled burn. The added benefit is that the fire departments will be able to exercise there mutual aid agreements and work in an environment that will validate their command and control.

We are asking the community to be patient for the duration of the controlled but if there any questions please call Camp Parks Public Affairs at (925) 875-4298
