Congressman Hosting Cyber-bullying Event

Rep. Jerry McNerney will partner with school district, teachers to talk about this growing trend.

Rep. Jerry McNerney will host a cyber-bullying event at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19 in the Multipurpose Room at .

A guest speaker from Common Sense Media will give a presentation at the event, McNerney said in a press release. Common Sense Media is a not-for-profit national organization that provides information to parents and teachers on age-appropriate media use and online safety for children. 

The speaker’s presentation will include background on and examples of cyber-bullying, tips for monitoring technology use among children, and suggestions for implementing strategies to address cyber bullying in the community and at schools.

The forum, held in partnership with the  and Pleasanton PTA Council, will provide parents of middle and high school students tools to address this growing trend, McNerney said.

School district staff and representatives from the  will also be available during a question-and-answer period for audience members following the main presentation.
