Hi Mary, At this moment in time, there are two council seats open. These will be decided on November 8th. If John is elected mayor, there will be a third seat open. However, the third seat will not be impacted by the election. It will either be an appointment by the new council or a special election.

Don, Yes, more notice would have been great. Please spread the word about the League of Women Voters debate which will be held at 7:00 on October 20 in the city council chambers. Also, channel 30 filmed a debate this weekend which you can now see. The schedule is posted on my website www.turner4livermore.com. Please encourage all to watch the debates, ask us questions, and choose each individual candidate based upon their merits and what they will bring to Livermore.

I think it would be helpful if the good people of the League asked the candidates the same list of preliminary core questions ahead of time and posted those questions on line so the candidates had time to prepare their best answer. Then give the candidates allotted personal time to expand on whatever their felt was their special leadership they would be bringing and of course the traditional 3" x 5" card questions (not necessarily in that order). If they posted the core questions on line on Patch for example or linked us on Patch to where the core questions are posted on the League's site, it would add to the viewership of the League's presentation on Channel 30 and help pin down core positions.

That is a very good idea Rich - and I will be happy to post the questions on the http://AnybodyButKamena.com website as well!
