Bay Area Counties See Drop in Unemployment

Unemployment rates in the Bay Area declined from April to May, matching a downward trend seen statewide, according to data released today by California's Employment Development Department.
 
Marin County had the lowest unemployment rate in the Bay Area in May at 3.8 percent, down from 3.9 percent in April.
 
Solano County had the highest unemployment rate in the area at 6.6 percent, down from 7 percent in April. San Francisco County was the only Bay Area county that didn't see a decrease in the unemployment rate, according to the department.
The county's unemployment rate remained at 4.4 percent from April to May.

California also saw its unemployment rate dropped to 7.6 percent from 7.8 percent in April.
