Fire Officials Say 'Change Your Clocks, Change Your Smoke Detector Batteries'
Fire officials advise residents to give the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors some attention this weekend.

With today marking the end of Daylight Savings Time, with clocks rolling back an hour, fire officials throughout the Bay Area advise residents to change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
The alarms can save lives and should be changed twice a year, as well as be tested once a month to ensure they are working properly, officials said.
If there is no smoke alarm in a home, they should be installed immediately, according to fire officials.
Many county fire protection districts, including Contra Costa County fire and Central fire of Santa Cruz County, offer free smoke and carbon monoxide inspection, testing and replacement programs. Call your local fire district for more information.
