Suspect in Botched Robbery Charged With Murder

Krishneel Prasad, 19, was charged with murder and three counts of armed robbery, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.

The Hayward man arrested in connection with the botched robbery at  that ended in  has been charged with murder, the Contra County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

Krishneel Prasad, 19, was charged with murder and three counts of armed robbery. He was Friday and is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $300,000 bail.

San Ramon police say Prasad and three other men tried to rob the Gold N' Treasures jewelry store last Wednesday.

One of the suspects, , police said, was waving a gun and making threatening statements. The owner of the store,  Everett Parvin, 61, of Dublin, shot Bairu once, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bairu then stumbled out of the store, collapsed on San Ramon Valley Boulevard and later died at .

Prasad can be charged with murder because in California if a death occurs as a result of criminal activity, the suspects involved can be charged with murder to any deaths connected to the crime.

Parvin won't face any criminal charges, The Chronicle reports.
