Santa Rita Jail Inmate Charged with Fatal Stabbing in East Oakland

Police say Jabulani Williams was already in jail in Dublin for another crime when he was charged with the 2013 murder.

An inmate in custody in Santa Rita Jail has been charged with a fatal stabbing in an East Oakland home last November, according to police.

Jabulani Williams, 38, of Oakland had surrendered to authorities at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on an unrelated crime in December and investigators connected him to the Nov. 21, 2013 stabbing of Casey Walker, 26, police said.

Walker was at a home in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue at 2:30 p.m. that day when he was stabbed from behind in the stomach, according to a probable cause statement by Officer Jason Andersen.

He was taken to Highland Hospital but died from his injuries, Andersen said. Through witnesses and surveillance footage police identified Williams as a suspect, Andersen said.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged him with murder and said he has prior convictions for sale of cocaine base and possession of a firearm by a felon.
