Traffic is slow going north on Interstate 680 after a Contra Costa Sheriff's department vehicle flipped.

Two Contra Costa Sheriff's Department officers were taken to the hospital after their vehicle overturned on Interstate 680 just north of El Pintado Road in Danville at about 1:55 p.m., according to a sheriff's department authority.

Two deputies, one male and one female, had to be extricated from the car, Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Both were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Lee said. The cause of the incident is unknown.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, CHP Sgt. John Carman said.

The accident has slowed traffic going north on I-680. As of 3:05 p.m., traffic is backed up past Crow Canyon Road in San Ramon.

511.org, as of 3:20 p.m. reported that all lanes of traffic on northbound I-680 are open.

Ok, I will ask what everyone is wondering and no one is asking: What caused the accident?

What's really going on? Who was driving? Who was at fault? We have a right to know, they work us, don't they?

How in the heck did that happen? Weird. (BTW, they are CoCo County Sheriff's Deputies---not officers).
