Oakland Man Arrested After Attempted Theft at Safeway
Suspect tried to steal alcohol and ran from deputies.
A 20-year-old Oakland man is in custody for resisting arrest after he tried to steal alcohol from Safeway on Saturday afternoon, said Lieutenant Herb Walters of Dublin Police.
“Around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a call of a theft in progress at the Safeway located at 7499 Dublin Boulevard,” said Walters. “The male saw the deputies and ran from the store, hopping a wrought-iron fence east of the store near the [Interstate 680] freeway.”
According to Walters, one of the deputies was injured as he tried to jump the fence during the pursuit.
