Mythbusters Wayward Cannonball Now Starring On Wikipedia

The ill-famed accident in Dublin can now be found in the free, online encyclopedia as one of the interesting tidbits in Dublin's history.

The infamous "Mythbusters Cannonball Incident" can now be found in Wikipedia by anyone reading up about Dublin.

On Dec. 6, the Mythbusters team was trying to test a steel cannon in comparison to a stone cannon at the Alameda County Sheriff's Bomb range training facility.

Using a 5-pound cannonball, they shot a homemade cannon. The round missed the water barrels set up to catch the projectile. The cannonball continued over a cinder block wall and bounced twice after hitting the hillside, which is designed to absorb projectile impacts.

The hillside may have been too dry from lack of rain and didn't stop the cannonball. Instead, it bounced off and into a nearby neighborhood, striking a house. The homeowners were not injured. It then continued across Tassajara Road, smashing through a minivan window and hitting the dashboard.

The crew of the Mythbusters , Hithe Shetty, who lives on Cassata off of Old Westbury Way, to apologize for the accident and later held a to listen to the residents'  concerns about the accident.

Mythbusters had been filming in the area for eight years and had accident-free track record of more than 2,500 experiments and 800 myths busted during their tenure with Alameda County.
