Mt. Diablo Fire As Seen From the Sky

Views from above of the wildfire that has now consumed 3718 acres

Gliding at an altitude of 800 feet above the ground, a retired Livermore Pleasanton firefighter shares his images of the Mt. Diablo wildfire as it ruthlessly burned up the devil mountain this morning.

Around 11 a.m., while flying in a powered parachute, Tony Zwetsloot was able to see the smoke and flames from a bird's eye perspective on the south side of the mountain from his position over Diablo Country Club.

"You could see the fire was moving toward the west," Zwetsloot said. "You could see bright flashes flaring up."

Zwetsloot was about five nautical miles away from the fire when he shot the photos.
