Man Arrested for Sneaking Into Car, Kidnapping Teen at Knifepoint

Police say Aron Kumar Roy, 23, intended to commit a sexual assault. He was arrested on Monday at the Best Buy in Dublin where he works for six felonies.

A 16-year-old girl escaped unharmed after a man snuck into the backseat of her car, pulled out a knife and tried to kidnap her, police said. 

According to the Fremont Police Department, officers responded to the area of Isherwood Way and Chaplin Drive at about 7:05 a.m. after neighbors reported that a girl told them that a man was chasing her with a knife.

The victim told officers that she drove to Lucky’s, parked her car at the Brookvale Shopping Center, and entered the store a little before 7 a.m.

While the victim was in the store, the suspect — identified as 23-year-old Aron Kumar Roy — entered her car and hid in the back seat, police said. The girl returned to the car and drove off. Shortly after, Roy revealed himself and pulled out a knife, instructing her to drive to a remote area off of Isherwood Way.

The victim managed to escape as she was parking the car and ran to a neighboring home for refuge, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene immediately where they found the victim’s car on Isherwood Way.

Police believe the suspect’s intent was to commit a sexual assault.

Using evidence located at the scene, investigators connected the crime to Roy, who was arrested at 6 p.m. Monday at his work on the 4800 block of Dublin Boulevard in Dublin.

According to Fremont police, Roy was arrested on suspicion of six felonies including kidnapping, kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, assault with intent to commit a sex offense and robbery.

Roy is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
