UPDATE: Early Morning Collision Shuts Down I580

All lanes are reopened after collision on eastbound I580.

A car overturned on eastbound Highway 580 before Grant Line Road this morning just before 5:00 a.m.

According to 511.org, the two left lanes of I580 were blocked and traffic leaving Tri-Valley was slowed. The California Highway Patrol has not yet been reached for comment on the collision.

According to the CHP website, a Sig Alert was issued for the the area. A tow truck and fire crews responded to the scene.

The lanes have since reopened, according to the CHP webiste.

JD--I disagree. The article says, "Were you stuck in the collision?". "Were" is past-tense. In other words, once you get to your destination and check your email (to see the Breaking News email), then you can send your comment if you wish to. I see nothing wrong with it. (BTW, my iPhone has built-in dictation and I can text while driving very easily. I just tell Siri, "I want to send a text message to (fill in the blank), and she does the whole thing for me. I have both hands on the wheel and never have to take my eyes off the road.

@JD, I think the passenger should be the one responding in this case for safety reasons or the driver after they reach their destination.

Autumn: Dublin is the location of the CHP office that handles the area in question. If you are reading the dispatch computer from the CHP Golden Gate Communications Center (CHP GGCC), the location listed all the way on the right is the office location---NOT the location of the incident. The Dublin office could handle something in Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, etc. If you see something in Milpitas, it will say "San Jose" for the CHP office because the office on Junction Ave in SJ handles all of Milpitas (and other cities as well).

As a matter of fact, if you take a peak at the CHP GGCC website right now, you will see CHP responding to a crash on 237 at Caribbean. That is located in the City of Sunnyvale, however, the "Area" says "San Jose". That's because CHP officers who are assigned to the San Jose office have responsibility for that particular location.

As soon as I saw Grant Line Road I knew where it was, and didnt think it pertinent to ptwn/livermore necessarily as it was eastbound on a sunday morning. but I've lived in the area a long time. Maybe the writer could familarize themself with the area.

Article is about a collision affecting Tri Valley residents. Dublin is a city in the Tri Valley. People leaving Dublin eastbound on 580 would have been affected by this slow down. I like to know when my commute is going to be affected going into or out of Dublin. Thanks Patch for taking the time to assist me with this knowledge.
