Dublin Police Issue Crime Prevention Alert After Tri-Valley Burglaries

The Crime Prevention Unit is asking residents to be aware of suspicious persons in their neighborhoods.

The Dublin Police Crime Prevention Unit is encouraging residents to pay attention to activity in their neighborhoods. 

According to police, the Tri-Valley area has experienced several residential burglaries in the past few weeks.

Police are asking residents to be aware of suspicious people in the area such as solicitors, individuals loitering or peeking into vehicles, and strangers entering or leaving homes.

Any suspicious activity or sounds such as broken glass, unusual barking by dogs or thumping or banging on residence doors should be reported to the police immediately.

The Crime Prevention Unit reminds residents to do following to help deter crime:

  • Lock all doors and close all windows – entry through open doors, windows, and garages is the most common form of residential burglary.
  • If someone you don’t know knocks at your door, advise them through the closed door the police have been called. 
  • Use motion sensor lighting around the perimeter of your home.
  • Whenever possible, vehicles should be parked in garages or in well-illuminated areas, and alarm systems should be activated.
  • Ensure that personal belongings within your vehicles are removed or - at a minimum - concealed and not in plain view.
  • Form a Neighborhood Watch group.
