Highway 84 was briefly shut down because of the accident.

Bay City News - A driver had to be airlifted from the scene of a crash on state Highway 84 near Sunol Tuesday morning after smashing into a pole, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The driver's white Ford pickup struck the pole at about 10:50 a.m. on Highway 84 just east of northbound Interstate Highway 680, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

A second vehicle might have been involved, but it was not clear how, he said.
