Deputy John Monego Memorial Tree Lighting Saturday

Monego was the first police officer to die in the line-of-duty in Dublin

Police and local dignitaries from Tri-Valley will be gathering in Dublin tomorrow night to honor the life of Deputy John Monego. This year mark's the 15th anniversary of Monego's line-of-duty death. 

On Dec. 12, 1998, Deputy Monego was responding to a 911 call at the in Dublin when he was shot numerous times after being ambushed by three suspects who had captured and were holding the first deputy who had arrived on scene inside.

The public is invited to the lobby of the Dublin Police Services on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. to remember the life of Monego. Police are accepting unwrapped gifts 
for the City of Dublin’s annual “Holiday Gift Drive" at the event. Refreshments will be served in the Dublin Regional Meeting Room after a tree lighting ceremony.
