CHP Flips Patrol Car During Chase on I-580

Two suspects arrested near Stockton after chase that began in Livermore.

Bay City News — UPDATED 11:53 a.m.: Two suspects were arrested Monday morning after one of the California Highway Patrol cars chasing them flipped during the pursuit.

Officers spotted an Infiniti speeding east on I-580 near Isabel Avenue in Livermore at about 3:20 a.m., CHP spokeswoman Diana McDermott said. When a CHP officer attempted to stop the car, the driver sped off, McDermott said.

A chase ensued, with the driver reaching speeds of 100 mph, she said. Two officers in a separate patrol car assisted in the pursuit. The assisting patrol car hit an embankment during the chase and overturned near Altamont Pass Road, causing minor injuries to both officers, McDermott said.

The first patrol car was able to pull over the Infiniti in the Stockton area at about 3:40 a.m. and the two suspects were taken into custody, McDermott said. CHP is still investigating the incident.

Infiniti driver is extremely lucky he is not facing TWO MURDER counts right now. Had those CHP Officer's died in the rollover, the Infiniti driver would be held accountable since he evaded. Jury's convict on those charges too.

Sorry, i know it's cool to support the police and all, but if I were serving on a jury, I would not convict for murder if police die while choosing to chase a suspect at high-speed. I don't think that's what murder actually is. Now, involuntary manslaughter is different and may apply, just take it easy with the murder hyperbole.

How old are these officers? There have been far too many CHP accidents in recent years (some have even killed bicyclists in bike lanes). I suggest they are young and inexperienced drivers.

@PunxNotDead I'm going by experience within the justice system. D.A.'s charge "Murder" & Juries convict on "Murder."
