Cement Truck Driver From Dublin Killed

CHP says 62-year-old man was driving a fully-loaded truck when it overturned into a ditch.

A 62-year-old cement truck driver died in a crash in unincorporated San Mateo County near La Honda this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash occurred on the road leading to  near the Sawyer Camp Trail that was ongoing. 90 cement trucks were on their way to the construction site to deliver loads this morning.

CHP could not confirm that the driver of the cement truck was on his way to the site, however.

The Dublin man was driving a fully-loaded truck on Roquena Drive when it overturned into a ditch near Esmeralda Terrace at about 8:45 a.m., CHP Officer Art Montiel said.

The driver was trapped in the truck and killed, Montiel said.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
