Car Crash Injures Five; Teenager Suspected of DUI

Police said one of the occupants suffered major injuries.

A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a Saturday morning car crash that injured a total of five people, police said.

The 17-year-old driver was traveling northbound on Paseo Padre when he lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a center divider, crashed into a sign and “continued to spin out of control” before hitting another sign and a tree, according to a report from the Fremont Police Department.

The accident occurred just before 2:45 a.m. Saturday on Paseo Padre Parkway near Covington Drive.

All of the occupants of the vehicle were injured and were only described as minors, said Police Spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

One passenger was transported to a local trauma center for major injuries, but police said that person’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.

The other four occupants of the car, including the driver, were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, and the driver was arrested on suspicion a felony DUI.

This is heart breaking. I wish the teens and families well during this difficult time. Hopefully the teen still at the hospital recovers fully. I understand it was very serious. I'm re-posting to remind people that it only takes one mistake and you can ruin a persons life. Glad there are no funerals in this case. Type: "Teen Records Fatal Drunk Driving Crash As It Happens" into a search engine and watch a recording from beginning to end how quick life changed for several young people. Peace!

The one with the major injuries, is my daughters boyfriend. My husband and I think of him as a son. We are all very shaken up over this. Currently his injuries are life threatening. I would consider being paralyzed from the neck down life threatening. He is in ICU fighting for his life. PLEASE pray for him!!!! He needs every prayer he can get right now. He was an active athlete and was just about to start playing baseball. This tragedy is devastating for our family. He is only 18 years old.
