Bay City News Service

A Sig-alert issued on westbound Interstate Highway 580 near Dublin because of a brush fire near the highway has been canceled this afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The fire was reported on the side of the highway near San Ramon Road at 12:07 p.m. One lane was shut down to accommodate fire crews at 12:20 p.m. and the alert was issued at 12:43 p.m., CHP Officer James Evans said.

The alert was canceled at 2:19 p.m. once fire crews left the highway and the lane reopened, according to the CHP.

No crashes or injuries were reported because of the blaze, which never reached the highway, Evans said.

All lanes remained open in the eastbound direction, however traffic backed up in both directions while the fire burned, Evans said.
