Bomb Squad Clears Home After Search Nets Materials for Explosives

7 arrested in Livermore after police search nets drugs and materials for pipe bombs.

Seven Livermore residents were arrested Wednesday after a probation search found drugs and materials to make pipe bombs, police said.

At around 2:30 p.m. Dublin officers were in the area of the 400 block of Colusa Way in Livermore, near Alameda Drive, when they spotted subjects known to be on searchable probation, Dublin Police Lt. Herb Walters said.

The officers then contacted to help assist in the probation search.

Officers found an unspecified amount of drugs in the home, Walters said.

In addition, materials to make pipe bombs were found in the residence.

Walters said the amount of explosive materials found could make about three pipe bombs.

"There were no actual pipe bombs assembled and ready to blow up," he said.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office bomb squad was then called to the area to safely remove the explosive materials.

Police are not releasing the identity of the people arrested.
