The California Highway Patrol has reopened two westbound lanes on Interstate 580 in the Tri-Valley that were closed this afternoon due to a multi-car crash.
The accident wreckage was cleared and the lanes were reopened at 4:32 p.m. The accident happened at 3:05 p.m. just west of Fallon Road.
The CHP's log reports a white Toyota and a black Ford SUV were involved.
CHP Officer Eric Anderson said one person was injured. The extent of the injuries isn't known.
The accident has created slow traffic through that busy highway corridor on a night where the weather was already expected to create traffic headlines.
Heavy rain is predicted in the Bay Area this evening, lasting until about midnight.
